Abstract

Since the advent of 600-nm band AlGaInP cw visible laser diodes (LDs) in 1985, much effort has gone into improving the reliability of the LDs operating at a few milliwatt optical output. Such LDs are now on the market and are widely being accepted in industry and science. There are, however, many uses that call for a higher (e.g., a few tens of milliwatt) optical output power.
