Abstract

The rare gas halide trimers are of great interest for a variety of reasons. Since electron-beam pumped excimer lasers are typically operated at atmospheric or greater pressures, trimers are present in substantial quantities, and their influence on the kinetics of the excimer system must be known in attempting to predict the output of these lasers. In addition, e2Cl and Kr2F have been made to lase, and the large emission bandwidth of these trimers make them attractive for applications where tunability is desired. Clearly, measuring the absorption spectra for the trimers becomes all the more important as they are considered for various applications.
