Abstract

Anti-Stokes Raman lasers (ASRL),1 which use an electric anti-Stokes Raman laser process in inverted metastable atomic systems, are potentially attractive for obtaining high power tunable VUV-XUV lasers. Electrically excited O(1S0) atoms, which can be generated in photodissociation of N2O or CO2 gases, can enable us to obtain a significant frequency upconversion of 33,792 cm-1.2
