Abstract

We investigated a new method of modulating the output amplitude and far field pattern of a linear phased-array laser diode known as phased array negation by transverse optical modulation (PHANTOM). PHANTOM may provide an effective means of modulating the output of phased-array lasers by controlling stimulated emission transverse to the phased-array stripes.
