Abstract

The phenomenon of multishot laser-induced damage in optical coatings has received growing attention in recent years. The mechanisms involved, however, remain uncertain for several reasons, of which of particular importance are the lack of knowledge of thin film thermal constants for theoretical analysis and the lack of direct evidence of changing thin film properties during multipulse laser irradiation for experimental investigation.
