Abstract
Very high phase conjugate reflectivity (>106) results from four-wave mixing (FWM) through stimulated Brillouin scattering when the pump intensity exceeds a threshold for instability.1–5 At these pump intensities the phase conjugate intensity grows exponentially in time until pump depletion occurs. The conditions required to induce the instability have been derived and confirmed in Refs. 1–5. We report on measurements of the effect of input signal frequency on the phase conjugate reflectivity and the frequency of the phase conjugate beam.
