Abstract
We demonstrate a prototype digital free-space photonic switching fabric consisting of three cascaded 16×8 arrays of Symmetric Self Electro-optic Effect Devices (S-SEEDs).[1] [2] The devices in each array are operated as logic devices, with crossover interconnections implemented between the arrays.[3] This experiment thus represents the first demonstration of array logic using S-SEEDs. The S-SEEDs used in this experiment have 5 µm by 10 µm windows on a 20 pm pitch. No degradation of system performance was observed over several days.
