Abstract

Opportunities for single-mode passive waveguide components are expected to grow rapidly during the next few years, primarily for emerging subscriber loop and cable TV applications. Data communication, specifically LANs (local area networks) and FDDI (fiber distributed data interface), is expected to create additional passive multimode component opportunities.
