Abstract

Among all available material, the semi-insulator (GaAs:Cr; InP:Fe) and sillenite (Bi12GeO20; Bi12SiO20) crystals are attractive because of their high photosensitivity. It is now well known that the magnitude of the two-wave mixing gain which is usually low in fast materials could be considerably enhanced by applying a square wave field to the crystal.
