Abstract

This paper presents the experimental results of the split disk geometry prototype amplifier for an inertial confinement fusion driver. The schematic diagram of a split disk geometry amplifier head is shown in Fig. 1. The typical overall dimension of the laser head is 180 mm high, 600 mm long, and 196 mm wide. The laser glasses are pumped by sixteen or thirty-two xenon flashlamps from each side with gold coating reflectors. Each flashlamp has a 50-mm arc length and 5-mm bore diameter (ILC5F2C).
