Abstract

Nonlinear phenomena in waveguides are of considerable interest for their many potential uses In all-optical devices.1 In most work in this field, second- and third-order (Kerr) nonlinearities have been used for various optical processing applications, such as coupling, switching, and bistable devices1 and phase conjugation.2 In photorefractive nonlinearities, bulk materials and effects have been studied to date and attracted a great deal of interest with extensive developments.
