Abstract

Thrombus formation often accompanies advanced atherosclerotic vessel disease and is thought to contribute greatly in the pathogenesis of myocardial infarction. While the excimer laser has been studied as an ablation tool for the remoyal of the calcified arterial lesions, no investigation of excimer laser ablation of thromboembolic obstructions has been reported.
