Abstract

High power diffraction-limited laser diodes with powers in excess of 100 mW have been reported recently.1 These diodes in combination with a resonant buildup cavity can supply sufficient circulating powers for efficient frequency doubling. We report the observation of frequency doubled output powers of 4.8 mW at 427 nm using a high power, single stripe laser diode and an external buildup cavity.
