Abstract

Organic materials are attracting considerable interest for both second- and third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. Materials such as 2- methyl-4 nitroaniline (MNA) and 3-methyl-4 nitro-pyridine-1 oxide (POM) have emerged as serious competitors to inorganic materials such as LiNbO3 and KDP for both electrooptic modulation and second harmonic generation.1
