Portable lidar boundary layer wind profiling system

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This portable (battery operated) lidar system is essentially a modified ground laser locator designator (GLLD). It is a laser ranging system that operates at a 1.06-μm wavelength. The operator tracks a pibal balloon with the GLLD. The total system can be battery operated and has a weight of ~60 lb.
