Abstract

Fiber optic versions of external cavities are very promising for linewidth reduction and wavelength tuning of injection lasers. Various fiber optic elements and interferometers are used in the design of such cavities. Extended groups of these cavities utilizing selective fiber elements are fiber realizations of bulk dispersive resonators. These schemes use multilongitudinal mode lasers, the lines of which are then narrowed by external optical feedback.
