Abstract
The development of long optical pulse self-sustained discharge excimer lasers provides a number of opportunities for new and exciting applications such as laser angioplasty. Furthermore, the increased number of cavity round trips with a long pulse laser permits the control of the laser's divergence, polarization, and linewidth. Such a capability will be important for applications such as UV laser photolithography and Doppler laser radar.
