All high intensity multiphoton ionization is necessarily resonant

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

At high intensities, the excited states of atoms are shifted by the ponderomotive potential of the laser held and come into resonance with some harmonic of the laser. The energy spectra of the photoelectrons and the ionic spatial distributions are dominated by three resonances.
