Abstract

Due to significant improvements in efficiency and reliability, diode laser arrays are becoming very attractive both as pump sources for practical solid state lasers and direct sources of coherent radiation. These uses, however, are frequently limited by current packaging technologies which are adequate only for low power or low duty factor applications.
