Abstract
We present measurements of wavefront preservation in a transient Raman amplifier over a range of Stokes amplifications from small signal to pump depletion. The degree of wavefront preservation is determined by placing the transient Raman amplifier in one arm of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer after the seed Stokes beam is aberrated. The amplified Stokes beam is thus interfered with an unamplified beam that has propagated over the same distance. The measurements are sensitive only to the changes in the beam caused by the Raman amplification process and not to arty development due to diffraction as the beam propagates.
