Abstract

During an experiment for development of a high power, high efficiency chemical oxygen iodine laser (COIL), we happened to observe that the laser power went down to zero from 600 W, and, instead, the lasing zone started to emitt intense red light. Later we found that this phenomenon was reproducible under certain experimental condition.
