Abstract

Continuously-pumped Nd:YLF regenerative amplifiers provide a convenient source of high-energy picosecond pulses. For spectroscopic purposes, repetition rates in the tens of kilohertz range are desirable. The upper limit, on the repetition rate for an Nd:YLF regenerative amplifier arises both from the finite pumping rate of the gain and from the acoustically–induced birefringence in the electro–optic cavity dumper, We have solved the second of these problems, thereby making possible amplifier repetition rates greater than 100kHz.
