Injection-locking properties of mutually coupled surface-emitting MQW distributed feedback lasers

Abstract

Injection-locking in laser diodes has been intensively investigated1,2 for controlling spectral and frequency stability. Most of the previous reports have treated a slave laser injected from a master laser through an optical isolator. In monolithically integrated lasers, such as a surface-emitting laser array,3 however, the situation is different because strong coupling occurs between the lasers. We report experimental and theoretical injection-locking properties of mutually coupled surface-emitting (SE) multiple quantum well (MOW) distributed feedback (DFB) lasers.
