Light-in-flight recording with view-time expansion using a skew reference wave

Abstract

In a previous paper1 it was shown that in light-inflight recording the reference pulse that travels along the photographic plate works like an ultrahigh-speed curtain shutter. The reason for this is that a holographic image is only formed when the object beam and reference beam illuminate the plate at the same time. The time scale on the plate is determined by the speed of light, and the largest time difference within the image is obtained when the reference pulse travels nearly parallel to the plate.
