Abstract

In mutually pumped phase conjugators (MPPCs), two mutually incoherent laser beams interact in a photorefractive crystal to generate a pair of phase-conjugate beams. A number of MPPCs have recently been demonstrated in photorefractive BaTiO3: the mutually incoherent beam coupler (MIBC),1 the double phase-conjugate mirror (DPCM),2 and the bird-wing phase conjugator (BWPC).3 These mutually pumped interactions were explained in terms of either hologram sharing or self-oscillation with a four-wave mixing process.
