Abstract

There is considerable current interest in the design of robust compact CO2 waveguide lasers.1–5 Recent results2,3 with folded waveguide resonators have yielded output power levels of over 50 W from devices whose dimensions are only marginally greater than conventional lower power structures. The resonator geometries tried include U- fold,2 V-fold,2,3 Z-fold,1,3-5 and X-fold.3
