Abstract

We have improved the performance of the active mirror geometry Cr:Nd:GSGG amplifier beyond that reported on last year.1 Our goals were to improve the repetition rate, essentially eliminate the bending due to the single-sided pumping, and reduce the active birefringence of the device, all without compromising the small-signal gain. We accomplished these objectives by making several modifications to our initial design. Our mirror has been thinned to 6.35 mm.
