Abstract

An indoor IR beam communication system was proposed for flexibly interconnecting high-speed terminals in a large open office environment. The problems of eye safety and ambient light were addressed. To demonstrate the practical feasibility of this system, an experimental IR beam data link has been designed, constructed, and tested.
