Abstract
The nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor quantum wells (QW) in the vicinity of the fundamental absorption edge have recently attracted much attention, both from the point of view of fundamental physics and applications.1 Compared with bulk semiconductors they exhibit several novel features which all arise from the reduced dimensionality of electronic excitations in QW.
