Abstract
Different laser-excited surface waves (SW) evoke two kinds of interest. Efficient ways of SW excitation can be useful for new types of optoacoustic device; on the other hand, periodic relief formation on a laser-processed sample is often the most undesirable effect. Laser treatment with a moving beam is a widely adopted industrial technique. Thus velocity selective resonant SW excitation leads to the problem of choosing beam velocity. It should be close or equal to the resonant value if the SW is to be excited; on the other hand, both resonant velocity and its harmonics should be avoided if SW excitation can deteriorate the laser processing results.
