Abstract

CNES is currently studying implementation of a high-data-rate optical communication link between a geostationary satellite (GEO) and a low earth orbiter (LEO). The data rate requirement is ~400 Mbit/sec, and the distance between the spacecraft is 37,000-45,000 km. This paper discusses a possible one-way link from LEO to GEO.
