Abstract

Continuous wave neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) lasers have found numerous uses in science and industry.1 However, cw Nd:YAG lasers have not found military applications due to limitations associated with conventional cw optical pump sources (krypton arc lamps, tungsten incandescent lamps).
