Abstract
It is often necessary to design a lens which transfers a set of input field distributions into some desired output fields. When these fields are completely specified, it is possible to design a holographic lens for this purpose which will give minimal phase error of the output wave front for the given set of input and output fields. We present a technique in which the grating function of the holographic lens is computed as a sum of polynomials whose coefficients are calculated from a set of linear equations.
