Adaptive optics for compensating atmospheric distortions

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Adaptive optical systems are designed to provide real-time correction of atmospheric phase distortions caused by turbulence and thermal blooming. The spatial and temporal control requirements of such systems are reviewed along with examples of demonstrated system performance.
