Abstract

An x-ray preionized XeCl discharge pumped laser, the largest of its type, has produced forty two joules energy in a single pulse. This is three times greater than any previously reported output energy from a discharge pumped laser.² This energy was extracted from a twelve liter active volume in a 180 ns optical pulse.
