Abstract

A 20-kW CO2 laser is being developed under the Japanese national project “Flexible Manufacturing System Complex Provided with Laser” to meet the expanding demands in heavy industry and steel production lines for high-power industrial lasers. Our design philosophy is aimed at a simultaneous and harmonious fulfillment of (1) high efficiency and beam quality, (2) high reliability and durability, (3) easy operation and maintenance, and (4) a energy-and laser-gas-saving, compact, and economical system.
