Abstract
Successful laser operation has been achieved, for the first time, by using the luminescent output of a Mather-type dense plasma focus (MDPF) as the optical pump.1 For the proof-of-principle experiments,2 laser dyes (such as rhodamine 6G, coumarin 480, and p-terphenyl) were employed as the active media, producing laser pulses with peak output power of ~50 kW.
