Abstract
The wide bandwidths, moderate resolutions, and inherent simplicity of acoustooptic Bragg cells make them well suited to real-time optical signal processors such as rf spectrum analyzers. To realize the full potential of these AO signal processors, there has been considerable effort in development of efficient wideband Bragg cells. Recently, a wideband Bragg cell has demonstrated 1-GHz bandwidth and 20%/W efficiency.1 This highly efficient Bragg cell has also been incorporated in a high dynamic range (40-dB) gigahertz-bandwidth AO spectrum analyzer.2
