Abstract
Derivative spectroscopy with cw lead-salt diode lasers has proved to be a useful technique for the estimation of atmospheric trace gas concentrations.1,2 By extending this technique so that it can be used with pulsed diode lasers, several advantages can be gained. Pulsed diode lasers operate over a wider range of both temperature and current, increasing their tuning range. Also operation at temperatures above 77 K becomes possible, thereby eliminating the need for bulky He cryostats.
