Abstract

Rapid spontaneous emission times at wavelengths shorter than 100 nm make it likely that lasers in the extreme UV will be constructed by first exciting a metastable storage level and then rapidly transferring that population to a radiating level using an intense short-pulse tunable laser. We will report our recent progress in realizing such a device.
