Stable sealed transition-selective CO2 laser at room temperature

Abstract

For many applications the CO laser with a great number of vibrational-rotational transitions in the 4-6-µm wavelength region is an attractive device. The large-scale acceptance of this device, however, is seriously hindered by its complexity, and in case an intracavity grating is used there is only a small part of the spectrum (close to the blazing angle) for which high reflectivity Is obtained, white in essence the system requires high optical quality. Further-more, up to now most devices are flowing systems and operate to obtain tens of watts at liquid nitrogen temperature.
