Abstract

We have demonstrated the transmission of images through multimode fibers using phase-conjugation. The transmission of spatial information through fibers is degraded due to modal dispersion. To compensate for this degradation Yariv1 proposed use of the wave front reversal property of certain nonlinear optical techniques. In this paper we describe the first demonstration of image transmission and restoration using the nonlinear optical process of degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM).
