Abstract
The formation of triatomic rare gas halide excimer molecules (Rg2X*) is of considerable interest both for direct laser action in the visible and near UV1 as well as a loss process in diatomic RgX* lasers. Several experiments are reported in this paper which deal with the kinetics and the optical absorption and gain characteristics of broadband triatomic excimer molecules.
