Abstract

Transparent and opaque spherical shells used in laser fusion targets must be characterized for uniformity and surface quality with a spatial resolution of 1 μm and a 5-nm accuracy. To perform such a function, an interferometer capable of working in transmission as well as in reflection mode has been designed and fabricated.
