Abstract
-centers in various alkali halide crystals can be used as an active media in color center lasers operating in the near infrared wave-length region.1,2 In spite of the successful operation of these lasers concerning laser threshold, output power, and tuning ranges, widespread application of these systems is still prevented by several drawbacks:
