Abstract

The optical recording technique promises to offer a number of important advantages. The use of optical beam for data recording and readout, however, presents new systems characteristics which require detailed understanding for the realization of the full potential of optical recording. One such characteristic is the adjacent bit or track interference. In this paper, we present an analytical model of the effect on the readout signal from adjacent bits and tracks for optical recording by ablation. Experimental measurements were made and results presented using a rotating Te coated disk as the recording media.
