Characterization of a pulsed supersonic molecular beam using coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy

Abstract

Recent advances in pulsed molecular beam sources1 have led to increased interest in using high resolution spectroscopic techniques in a molecular beam.2 Advantages of molecular beam spectroscopy include sub-Doppler resolution using spatial collimation and great spectral simplification due to intense adiabatic cooling in a supersonic expansion. In addition, high resolution spectroscopy can be used to investigate the properties of the supersonic expansion itself, especially the properties of a pulsed expansion.
