Abstract

Alkali noble-gas excimers or excimer molecules such as Tl-Hg have been discussed for some time as candidates for efficient lasers operating in the visible part of the spectrum.1 Other than detailed spectroscopic experiments, however, practically no laser-oriented experiments exist, and oscillation has not been demonstrated for these systems. We propose a novel excitation scheme for these excimer molecules which allows systematic investigations toward achieving laser oscillation.2
