Abstract

A novel approach to the image reconstruction problem in the diffuse optical tomography is proposed. This technique is free from Jacobian calculations and is based on separating the non-linear inverse problem into two steps: calculation of the volumetric source distribution and update of the estimates of the optical properties. Advantages and potential applications of the new technique are analyzed.
