Quantitative optical monitoring of the hemoglobin concentration and saturation in the piglet brain

Abstract

We have used frequency-domain spectroscopy to measure the hemoglobin concentration (THC) and saturation (StO2) of the piglet brain during hypoxia and hemodilution. We have investigated the effect of background absorption on the measurement of THC and StO2.
